Contracts for the construction of a series of 5 vessels were signed between «Nevsky Shipyard», LLC, «State Transport Leasing Company», PJSC and «Pola Rise», LLC in December 2016. Designer Marine Engineering Bureau.
The main ship of the series (building number 591) was laid on May 18, 2017, the second vessel (building number 592) – on May 25, 2017.
In August 2017, the formation of the hull of order №591 was started, today two blocks have been formed, more three blocks will be formed before the end of October. The stacking assembly is started and three bottom sections are mating on the order №592.

The vessel is designed for transportation of general and bulk cargo (including grains), packaged lumber, logs, scrap metal in bundles and rolls, large, lengthy and heavy cargo, coal, dangerous goods of 1.4S, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.1, 8, 9 class in accordance with IC IMDG and Appendix B of the BC Code.
The main advantages of dry cargo vessel of RSD59project:
• The height of the hold is 9000 mm, which allows transportation of containers up to 9.6 feet high - "high cube containers" (3 such containers in height)
• Hatch covers of a removable type are installed. Opening and closing of each section is carried out with the help of a special gantry crane, which is located in the march near the fore bulkhead of the residential superstructure
• movement and controllability are provided by two RRS (better maneuverability in narrow areas, more cargo space due to reduction of the size of machine room).
One of the main advantages of the RSD59 project is the presence of a large hold 77.35 m long which allows oversized project cargoes to be transported in direct Europe-Caspian cargoes, which should significantly affect the overall financial result of the operation. The vessels of RSD59 project are by far the largest of dry cargo vessels by displacement satisfying the dimensions of the Volga-Don shipping channel.
