The crew of MPSV12 project rescue vessel "Piltun" was handed over the Orthodox relic
On December 21st Nevsky Shipyard together with the Charity Fund "Prityazeniye" held a charity event to donate an Orthodox shrine to the captain and crew of MPSV12 project rescue vessel "Piltun"
The event was attended by management and representatives of the Nevsky Shipyard, heads of the Charity Fund " Prityazeniye ", the priest of the St. Petersburg Metropolitanate Archpriest Father Oleg, the crew of the rescue ship "Piltun". In a solemn atmosphere, the vessel's crew was handed over the icon of St. Nicholas - the patron saint of sailors. Sailors with many years of experience admit that they do not go out to sea without prayer, and they always take with them the icon of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker.
The tradition of presenting the crew with an icon of the heavenly patron saint of sailors was laid down during the time of Emperor Peter the Great.
